When to end your loved one's life.. maybe the whole estate tax thing will help you decide!!
The long march to eugenics, away, and back again. The sneak attack..
Go to 1 minute and 50 seconds into this video and prepare to be disgusted (if you're like me at least).. apparently the estate tax repeal for one year is causing a lot of discussion about when to yank grandmother off the respirator.. I mean, her estate would be tax free, after all..

The Pope was kung fu fighting
Pope Nazinger Benedict used his traditional New Years message to tell rich nations they are responsible for environmental problems on earth and he wants all wealthy to shed that pesky consumerism they like so much. A valiant attempt from the Pope to spread the word of Christ.. Forget about that whole Pope wears Prada shoes thing..
Ignore that whole expensive vestment thing ..
Oh, and yes, the Vatican does have between 10 billion to $15 billion in wealth...
Perhaps that whole consumerism thing worked for the Church, being that the collection baskets are filled closer to the top when economic stability is achieved.
But, for Pope Benedict, a message to the world, straight from the discarded note paper from Copenhagen..
What is the Vatican's carbon output, anyway? ..

It will be interesting to see...

...if photos of Obama playing golf are shown as much as Bush at his ranch in Texas concerning pre-attack warnings about threats to the homeland... NEWSWEEK magazine reporting tonight, According to the senior official, the holiday threat briefing, one in a series of regularly-scheduled sessions with top counter-terrorism officials, was held in the White House Situation Room on December 22. Present were representatives of agencies involved in counter-terrorism policy and operations, including Attorney General Eric Holder, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and FBI Director Robert MuellerAlso worth noting, NEWSWEEK magazine respectively came up with a good term for the Christmas day attempted attack: "Asked about what kind of intelligence reporting was circulated to senior officials about possibly holiday period attacks before the failed underpants attack, a US intelligence official, who also asked for anonymity, explained: "As everybody knows, terrorists often speak in coded language, especially when they think their communications might be intercepted"..
Underpants attack..

Jennifer Lopez and her bodysuit usher in 2010
Did anyone else see this by the way? The semi-nude JLo prancing on stage.. lip syncing the rest of 2009 away? It was a strange affair altogether.. perhaps made so more by Ryan Seacrest. But I think there should have been some warning on the content here.. It wasn't so much that it was sexually arousing but more so weird. It had the ability to make you queasy if you had kids in the room with you.
I mean, as a nation, we get infuriated that Adam Lambert kisses a man on TV but yet we're ok with Jennifer Lopez in a bodysuit? I am not against it, don't get me wrong. But time and place, Jlo, time and place.. While the outfit doesn't insult me as much as it would have some others, what does insult me is the lack of any singer's ability to actually sing live and instead rely on tape..
Go to any bar on any given New Year's Eve, no matter how upscale or how dive it is, and you'll find real bands singing. Granted some of them are downright awful to listen to. But they sing nonetheless.. Stars on TV can't seem to gather enough energy or bravery to do that.. Maybe they just feel so much pressure over a massive crowd watching a live performance that they don't want to mess it up. And the people in the crowd would never have known that she was lip syncing. They would most likely be watching parts of her bodysuit ride up with wear..
But we, as a TV nation, did see the lips not moving with the words...
But then again.. she was in a full bodysuit.. You didn't see that much in 2009..

HAPPY 2010
It's got to be better than '09.. right? No. But you can at least try..
Be safe. . Eat pork .. or do whatever you like.
And God bless Dick Clark.. looking like a million bucks no matter the circumstances. Ryan Seacrest.. I wish you were "out" .. . That could be taken a lot of ways now that I reread it..
Happy 'NOT 2009' ..

ALL IS FAIR IN WAR AND FULL BODY SCANS
AND SO GOES YOUR PRIVACY.. The Christmas Day underwear terror bomber didn't blow up the flight bound for Detroit, but his actions apparently were severe enough to create a feeding frenzy of fear in the United States. Suddenly there are calls full body scanners, even though those same scanners have long been feared due to privacy concerns. After all, the thought of a TSA worker peering at a full nude image of the body in front of him is a concern, let alone the questions about the powerful Xrays and what effect they could have on a body..
But now there are new calls for these very devices.. the same devices that Congress most recently as this past summer said on 3 to 1 margin that the full body scanners should only be used as a second screening for questionable passengers..
The scannners are in few airports, but major media would have the world watching believe that suddenly everyone wants them.. Put them in the malls! Put them at the grocery store!! Place them in my own home!!!
So now as the UK SUN tells us that 25 British-born Muslims want to bomb airliners, Obama is lampooned by critics over the event, and a Yemenese minister says 300 militants are planning attacks, there are new calls for surrendering a little bit of privacy. And maybe a little more after that. Trouble is, no one ever talks about bringing any of that little bit of privacy back...
The end of privacy?

Flight 253 passenger: Sharp-dressed man aided terror suspect Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab onto plane without passport
Detroit news station reporting
Strange pre-flight circumstances raises questions and eyebrows..

Wisconsin news station: Family Survives Terrorist Attempt
Intrigue: 620WTMJ reporting:
They were sitting about 20 rows behind Abdulmutallab, in a center aisle with her husband and daughter a row ahead of her and their two new adopted children, a six-year-old girl and an eight-year-old boy.
Her daughter said that ahead of them was a man who videotaped the entire flight, including the attempted detonation.
"He sat up and videotaped the entire thing, very calmly," said Patricia. "We do know that the FBI is looking for him intensely. Since then, we've heard nothing about it."
