NEWSWEEK COVER: WHAT BUSH GOT RIGHT
Disgruntled conservative hard-liners have been dismayed by the administration's policy in many areas, particularly North Korea, Iran and Israel. John Bolton, formerly Bush's U.N. ambassador and a superhawk, publicly makes the case for betrayal. When Burns joined the talks with Iran, Bolton fumed sarcastically on television that the State Department was obviously "doing its best to ensure a smooth transition to the Obama administration." ..he goes on to write, "That president, of course, was George W. Bush. His decision to blindly repudiate anything associated with Bill Clinton is what got us into this mess in the first place. Let's hope that the next president, no matter how much he despises Bush, will take a careful look at his administration's policies, America's interests, and the world beyond and do the right thing for the country and its future"Zakaria seems to believe the new world order is coming.. but only delayed a few extra years by a bumbling couple years of the Bush Administration. Fareed writes, "An obsession with terrorism has also made the administration devote too little time and energy to the defining feature of the new world order —"the rise of the rest," by which I mean the growth in economic and political power of countries like China, India, Russia, Brazil and a series of regionally prominent nations like South Africa, Nigeria, Mexico and Kazakhstan. " The new world order.. It's coming. Only delayed by Bush 43. The NEWSWEEK article argues that 2009 will bring the return of the freight train heading down the path of the new.. world .. order.

BERNIE MAC: DEAD AT THE AGE OF 50
Only hours ago reports claimed that Bernie Mac was about to be released from the hospital The reports: Comedian Bernie Mac is making a good recovery from pneumonia and should be released from a Chicago, Ill., hospital within the next few weeks, his representative has confirmed..
Suddenly, the news changed from great to horrible: Bernie Mac's publicist confirmed early Saturday morning that the comedian and actor died at the age of 50 from complications..
The reports this morning pre-death news were chilling:"News of the ailing actor's illness broke last week, and at one point, his publicist Danica Smith was forced to play down reports Mac's health had rapidly deteriorated, with some rumors claiming he had died. Speaking on Sunday, she insisted, "Bernie Mac is still alive and being treated in a Chicago hospital for pneumonia and is expected to make a full recovery. (He is) responding well to treatment and will be released soon."Another report this morning claimed that both Bernie Mac and Morgan Freeman were recovering from their medical issues.. But then, in what seems like minutes after the initial dispatches complete with news of good health for Mac, newer bleaker reports became available.. FOX NEWS and FRIENDS first reported the news.. Appearing confused at first, the Saturday morning anchors read from a laptop live on air as they got the AP URGENT alert.. The FOX NEWS alert music sounded. And the rest was history.. Bernie Mac is dead this morning.. No further details are immediately available. His family is asking for privacy .. News trickles .. but in this event, it's a flood of tears for Bernie Mac in many circles of the world.. PHOTO: REUTERS FILE

UPDATE: JOHN EDWARDS SAYS HE'S NOT THE FATHER
The political world was rocked today when John Edwards admitted he had a relationship with a filmmaker in 2006 .. Though the National Enquirer photographed Edwards recently at a Vegas hotel, Edwards didn't produce an explanation as to why he went back to see the filmmaker--and hold a child that he claims is not his.
MORE
Not his child.. But his relationship..
His wife has terminal cancer.
And the band played on..
John Edwards began his campaign for president before his campaign of denials in the Rielle Hunter scandal.. Edwards denied the story in October 2007, and just weeks ago when he said 'supermarket tabloids' didn't know what they are talking about.
They did.
And now the convention slot for Edwards is gone, I think.. the chances for Vice President, and the faith of all the youth that volunteered time and money when he was running for president.
While debate rages whether the Edwards story has importance or if it's just a Friday media feeding frenzy, the truth lays within Edwards' heart--and within his family. A family reeling as news now circles around the world..
Another politician. Another scandal.
Another denial.
And another tabloid ending up being right....

NICE ADS BECOME TACKY: BUS BEHEADING LEADS TO GREYHOUND SCRAP

The ads extol the comfort of a bus ride.. No 'bus rage' here.. Until the beheading that shocked Canada ..
Greyhound now is scrapping its ads that talk about the comfort and serenity of a bus ride .. They would seem a little tacky in the wake of the horrible crime that shocked the land up north and pretty much everywhere else..
Greyhound said the ads only appeared in Canada and that some in Ontario and western Canada have already been removed..

POLLUTION!? WHAT POLLUTION.. IT'S JUST 'MIST'
China officials are trying to ease fears tonight by telling athletes and journalists in the country for the Olympics that the pollution all over around is only 'mist'..Even more, one of the International Olympic Committee's most senior figures dismissed the yellow-grey haze that periodically hangs over the city as mist, and blamed the media for overstating pollution problems..
Mist.
The mist.. not the Stephen King mist, I hope..
But at least Stephen King's mist was fiction..
The filth hanging in the air in China is very real.
Also interesting today, China actually fired 'anti-smog pellets' into the sky over Beijing--just as an earthquake hit! The 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit the western Chinese provinces of Sichuan and Gansu today..
Mist is mist.. but an earthquake is an earthquake..
And maybe, just maybe, that mist is actually pollution, regardless of what the 'best face forward' Olympic committee may be saying..
