A RENDEZVOUS WITH DESTINY?
DOWN TO THE WIRE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE; NEW POLLS PUT ENERGIZED OBAMA OVER 90's RELIC HILLARY..
* * *
POLL SHOWS RON PAUL GAINING BIG IN GRANITE STATE
The debates tonight will be nasty.. Hillary's delicate mission: Energize her own campaign, be the candidate of change, do not insult the youth or independents, but slam the candidate Obama .. I expect her focus will be on the fact he opposed harsh prison sentences for some criminals.. She will try to be the candidate of moderation.
But the Obama train is flying down the tracks straight into the future.. The amazing story of Barack Obama..
Rasmussen site still down, or facing high traffic but TIME MAG blog breaks down the numbers
The remarkable numbers show a majorly changing race. Note one thing, on the GOP side, Ron Paul has now become a strong third place, beating Iowa winner Huck/Norris, Giuliani, and Thompson.. Ron Paul has jumped 7 points even though he came in fifth place in Iowa!
New Hampshire may surprise the world.
This election is unconventional. Excitement on two sides today.. Independents living free or dying.
POLL SHOCKER: RASMUSSEN POLLS PUTS OBAMA TEN POINTS OVER CLINTON IN NEW HAMPSHIRE.. RASMUSSEN site down at this moment, most likely because Drudge linked the poll..
AP PHOTOS Ron Paul wins New Hampshire.
Barack Obama wins New Hampshire.
I could live with that choice for November in 2008. The experts would tell me it won't happen. Obama may stand a chance but Ron Paul would not..
The interesting thing to keep in mind, though: New Hampshire is filled with free and independent minds. Independents could vote in either primary. McCain trounced Bush in 2000 there.. Obama gets the youth vote and independents. Republicans fed up with Bush and war go with Ron Paul's libertarian no tax message..
Not saying it will happen but just nice if it did.
New Hampshire polls show Hillary and McCain sliding..
Major crowds in New Hampshire for Senator Obama.. journalists report people crushing the stage when he speaks or walking miles to get to one of his campaign speeches..
There could be a few reasons the media is not paying attention to the Cowboy state today.. Results of the Republican Wyoming caucus should be prepared by about 3pm today.
Few candidates visited the state.. Mitt Romney sent his wife.
Surprised the candidates didn't send their pets as honorary campaign captains..
But is the ignorance because the real momentum and big story on the Democrats? The potential fall of the invisible and inevitable Hillary?
Or is it because Ron Paul may do well?
There were few articles after the Iowa caucus concerning Paul's fifth place finish. He almost finished fourth. And almost third. The candidates besides Huck and Mitt were pretty close together. Ron Paul could do well in Wyoming.
The media seemingly have been out to destroy the fringe candidates, or those they consider the fringe. They were forced to pay attention to Ron Paul after his record breaking fundraising..
And something just sneaks into my mind. Is Wyoming not going to matter if Ron Paul wins?
There could be potential road blocks to a Paul victory with the process in Wyoming, however.
And then on to New Hampshire..
Remember, my personal hope was that we'd get a choice between Ron Paul and Barack Obama in the general election. I knew it was improbable. But it would be an amazing choice. Two fresh ideas.. two candidates of change and true beliefs. Two candidates against the use of torture, against overspending our military power. The fear of the Schmuckraker today is that we end up in November 08 with the typical two: McCain vs Hillary.
WYOMING: SCHMUCKRAKER CARES!
You may think you're opinion doesn't matter, Wyoming Republicans. But the Schmuckraker has taken note of what others in the media didn't. Sure, New Hampshire is coming up .. sure, there are presidential debates tomorrow night.. and of course, Britney Spears has a mental breakdown today. But your caucus is tomorrow!
It's showtime Cowboy state!
News story jokes that only David Letterman fans may know that Wyoming Republicans should have their winner by 3pm tomorrow..
The only candidates that visited Wyoming: Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter and Ron Paul.
Perhaps the other candidates, like most Americans and media, have no clue Republicans are going to caucus tomorrow?
Maybe.
First weekend of 2008.. it seems it's the typical weekend for a PG-13 rated horror flick to come out. This week's theater counts..
One Missed Call (Warner Bros.) / 2,240
The Killing of John Lennon (IFC) / 1
The video being called "Beck from the dead"..
Verbal rampage by talk show host Glenn Beck...
Odd, rambling "If I die.." video..
Compared his stay to SAW movies...
Says he would have blown his brains out if someone offered a hand gun..
Says, "One of the most eye opening experiences of my life to [pause] to receive health care in the United States today in not one of our more glorious medical institutions even though I live in a very nice area.."
Says doctors that treated him were incredible but says he has stories of hospital that will "melt your brain"..
Said he said it is "weird" in three days to become convinced there is no reason to live..
The most intriguing part of this coming election year is the consistent and constant worry about electronic voting machines. I know myself. When I click my fingers and "cast my vote" and give me little election card back to the little old lady that really doesn't understand anything since they got rid of pencils, is my vote really being counted? changed? thrown out? clicked away?
States are beginning to worry about the same thing, according to the AP. The first sentence of the AP story isn't promising: Several states have found "critical flaws" in electronic voting machines..
President Harrison may have loved the electronic machines.
The movie MAN OF THE YEAR should never happen. This AP story makes it seem possible.
Ron Paul supporters.. it should make you think.
We did something together to start the new year. We rang in the new year. Together. Let's keep it going. Hopefully 08 brings peace, happiness, and prosperity.. Raise a glass, toast a year past. And a new one just begun..
I say, I say, dat der election der will not devestate me, see
Fred Thompson will not be upset if he loses the election.. or the primaries, or anything. It's fine with him.
In one way, it makes you like the guy more: He's maybe just normal. If he loses no skin off his back. On the other hand, it goes to verify my very early point this year: He didn't even want to run!
Thompson said: "I'm not particularly interested in running for president. I don't know if you have a desire to be president. I am not consumed by personal ambition. I'm offering myself up."
I say, I say.. Foxhorn Leghorn: A man of reason?
