Cheney on Leno

Fake news clip may be one of the funniest from the week..

A heated exchange..

A simple campaign stop by Mitt Romney turns into a verbal battle between him and waitress Michele Griffin..

Ron Paul.. the man the AP calls the "unusual" candidate

The candidate who should be president is now a huge attraction on both Google and You Tube.. It's not translating into poll results, though.. he still trails behind the major candidates.. One could only hope this surge of youth-invigorated Paulamania will somehow translate into an electoral revolution in 2008.. As I said, one could only hope.. In the meantime, as I mentioned in an earlier post today, an AP story today gave us a 65-word-story on the Texas Congressman.. His "unusual appeal." Some other Random Ron rakings: The Congressman has more donations from active military soldiers than any other Republican candidate.. The new favorite for people looking for an outsider.. On Dennis Miller, Paul says he would like to do some things but cannot because of Constitutional limitations that he pledges he would follow.. Paul talks about freedom on the Internet.. So the question: Does the media's insistence on using the adjectives "long-shot" or "unusual" or "contrarian" or second tier" before Paul's name keep him where he is? Or is it a false appeal online? Can the Net be so disconnected from the real campaign? Or are people just so sick of the campaign becoming an earlier and earlier process that it is not even paying attention to a thing?

Some random rakings..

Saturday morning. Hot. Humid. Summer.

Random rakings. I need say no more:

Glen McDuffie says he is the soldier kissing the nurse in the famed LIFE magazine photo of returning troops in Times Square after World War II.. LIFE magazine still not convinced.

17 kids for Arkansas family--and they want more!

A changing Earth: Lake Superior losing water..

Foot and mouth worries in Britain: PM Gordon Brown bans all UK meat exports.. says rapid action will follow and find the Foot and Mouth disease outbreak source..

Newt Gingrich says war on terror is "phony"

Dancing jailbirds a hit on You Tube..

Associated Press' 65 words on Ron Paul.. 65 words.

Bob Novak comments on why he knew Bush wanted to go to war quickly after 9/11..

Why I hate wedding rehearsal dinners..

Just when we thought things were getting better at Ford, now a new Ford recall! Cruise control switch problems; Huge recall.

Lead paint.. and falling bridges

Yep. That's America in 2007.. The products are from China.. the paint is made with lead. .the toothpaste has a chemical that can't go in your mouth.. the food is tainted.. The meatballs have cardboard.. And just in case you thought it was safe, the bridge you're on just fell into the Mississippi River! The 20th was called the American century. I suppose the 21st is the century we all fall down. It was bad enough that we lost scores of jobs with outsourcing and company-protected but not worker-protected trade agreements--but now coming with those trade agreement are processed foods containing elements that the human body shouldn't even have! And with the fact that we're spending oodles and oodles of money daily on war and weaponry, the infrastructure of America isn't fairing so well. Over a quarter of the nation's bridges have been said to be deficient.. The very fact a bridge literally fell down this week shows that we have neglected the roadways and bridges we drive on. It was easy for our major news media, mostly owned by Rupert Murdoch, to exclaim the question, "Who's to blame!?" But it's harder to really name the causes. There have been bad decisions over the years.. News came out today that the Minneapolis bridge collapse happened years after some knew it was already becoming something that needed repair.. In 1990, reports circulated that there were problems on the interstate bridge.. And warning signs are apparently not really a problem for experts when it comes to Chinese imports. So from Wal-Mart to your kitchen table. We're a changing land. Emlo is dangerous, and so are major thoroughfares.. Your kids are licking a toy that may have lead paint on it.. And God only knows what's in the meat. But just when you thought it was safe to eat vegetables, a fresh warning about green beans tonight: A warning not to eat certain types of canned green beans because of a botulism scare. Boy it's fun to be an American..

.. America the crumbling..

An entire bridge collapses over the Mississippi River and tens of thousands of Fisher Price toys imported from China are being recalled due to lead paint..

America's birthday just passed.. Are things as bad as they seem?

Is the infrastructure decaying beyond recognition?

Are we outsourcing too much in turn poisening ourselves?

Thoughts on this coming soon..

And a quick, scary video, of the actual bridge collapsing that I just can't get out of my mind..
