BRING YOUR OWN TOILET PAPER ! ! HARRISBURG FACES DIRTY THE PROSPECTS OF DIRTY CAPITOL BATHROOMS

News of a possible Pennsylvania furlough, driver license centers closing, casino shut down, and state park shut down just got dirter..

In state offices, buildings, and even the Capitol in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, those "essential" employees may have to bring their own toilet paper!

Up to 80% of the Department of General Services is going to be furloughed if the budget doesn't pass tomorrow..

Senators debating the issue will be taking out their own trash..

MORE:

According to an official press release, there will be no custodial staff to clean offices, take out trash, or clean toilets and unclog sinks.

While the corridors of power are filled with the stench of a rancid political debate over the Pennsylvania budget, the hallowed halls may soon be filled with the stench of blocked toilets, full trash cans, and rotting food.

The latest AP story on the process reports that furloughs are likely.

Bring your own toilet paper. You're essential!

The 7-7-7 Weddings: Good luck

Hope all of you didn't just leap into marriage because you that the triple sevens were lucky...

Good luck. Enjoy the honeymoon. Time for life.

Hope fades in Harrisburg

Governor Ed Rendell said today he was "not optimistic" about reaching a deal, meaning that more than 24,000 state workers may be furloughed Monday..

Either all talk or all walk: According to the Harrisburg PATRIOT NEWS:
Rendell said he will make a decision by 4 or 5 p.m. Sunday on whether enough progress has been made on resolving the budget impasse to know if he could suspend the furloughs. But his bottom line on the likelihood of the furloughs being suspended: "I am not as optimistic as I was yesterday."

The Associated Press and other media outlets are reporting there is no deal and there will be furloughs..Rendell blames Republicans while Republicans blame Rendell...Ahhh, politics.

And the jobs of more than 24,000 folks at risk..

NO PROGRESS: NO DEAL

And now furloughs appear more likely in Pennsylvania as Rendell and the Legislature keep talking but keep fighting ..

Talks resume today..But hours of talking last night failed to produce any agreement. Both sides have dug in their heals..

PA state workers union tries to stop furlough..

Developing story.. According to the Harrisburg PATRIOT NEWS, AFSCME filed an emergency petition in Commonwealth Court tonight to stop Gov. Ed Rendell's planned furlough of more than 24,000 state workers effective Monday..

Casinos asking court to stop shutdown..

Rep proposes amendment to prevent furloughs but Governor Rendell said it would only be signed if he believes it will lead to an agreement on a state budget..

Rendell also responded to Senate subpoenas...

The Impeachment ring...

It's like 1998 all over again, minus the sex stained dress and cigar stories that made parents cover their children's ears when the news was on..

A new poll claims that almost a majority of Americans favor impeaching the President and even more favor impeaching the Vice President..

A few outspoken Democrats have hinted that eventually impeachment was a goal; Speaker Nancy Pelosi has always done what she could to stimy public talk about impeachment proceedings..

The President still smiling though: It's his 61st Birthday..

Ron Paul has more cash than John McCain!

All hail the libertarian! Ron Paul with more cash on hand than the man who was once considered the shoe-in for the 2008 Republican nomination..

>>Video of Ron Paul on cash in hand..

"I think people have underestimated the number of people in this country who are interested in a freedom message," Congressman Paul said..

Budgetary consternation in Pennsylvania

If a state budget is not approved by Monday, over 25,000 Pennsylvania state workers--many low-paid clerical staffpersons--will be furloughed, drivers licensing centers will be forced to close their doors, casinos may have to stop operations since auditors will be furloughed and considered non-essential, and state parks will cease operations... The game of chicken being played in Harrisburg.. a fever pitch. Senate Republicans are promising not to back down in the face of Governor Ed Rendell; at issue: An increase in spending, an energy plan.. The state workers that are considered "non-essential" will not be paid for their time off.. with their letters explaining a furlough they also received a pamphlet about how to apply for unemployment. The "typically safe" job of a state worker not so safe anymore when powerful politicians argue about where on a giant ledger they can put state dollars. The most recent news, news that may make already tough budget negotiations even tougher, is news that a GOP lawyer says that two Rendell cabinet secretaries "could be arrested" if they ignore a Senate subpoena.. Republicans in the Senate are asking why 8 auditors that look into state casinos are being classified as non-essential and are a part of the furlough list.. The summer heat is going to blaze in Harrisburg this weekend.. along with debate--debate that will reach a fever pitch by Sunday if no budget is passed and many state offices will be in the dark Monday morning. For the record: State liquor stores will remain open.. And also for the record, with the budget crisis looming above the heads of the Legislature, the PA House tonight is debating amendments to a statewide smoking ban. Smoke em if you got em.

Hair raising political stories...

Bad pun.. but humorous stories:

Two women shrieked "Bob Barker! It's Bob Barker!" after seeing former President Clinton...

And John Edwards' hair stylist tells his story..

Reaction to Vince McMahon..

Received a few emails and got a few comments on whether Vince McMahon ruined wrestling--which I believe he did.. One email to me asked: Why would we care? Good point. Maybe. But if you look at pop culture and how it can either reflect what we are or what we will become, is it very important.. in the comments, Paris Hilton came up. I think the media sensation is a symbol of our societal decadence more than a reflection of our morality. Besides, when you look through history, there is always a celebrity scandal that causes a stir..

song that gives me the chills still.. especially sung in this way after the deadly 9/11 terrorist attack on our country..

231 years..

In the United States, the tradition continues.. Fireworks lighting up night skies over friends and family.. over patriotic Americans and even over those with a lackluster sense of history and not much concern for it in the future.. But each year that war drags on, each year that the government popularity sinks into the septic tank of American politics, and each year our country divides itself on issues on pointless as gay marriage, you need to ask yourself: Is this what our founders wanted? The answer is YES! Of course they did. From an historical perspective on this country, the founding fathers were shrouded in a time when oppressive slavery was fine, women were servants and couldn't vote, and only a white over-priviledged population was able to buy land. Little did they even know what their system of freedom and Declaration of Independence would do. It's very unfair to judge them in our context. As a matter of fact, the very way we left the King's rule and fought our revolutionary war was liberal for its time. If you judged Ben Franklin or George Washington or Thomas Jefferson in 2007 context, they'd be impugned and lambasted for the positions they had. But somehow, in some beautiful way, their beliefs of how government should work evolved into the free country that America is. It's an America with problems, of course. But what country won't have problems. Taxes are high. But we can speak out and talk back--and then vote when it comes time to "throw the bums out".. The American people's involvement with the failed immigration bill is exactly what made it fail. Representative government knows it has to live its life by getting watched by the people that voted for them in the first place.. Republicans had a dominant control of the Senate and Congress for years.. until last year, when people voted on their belief that the system was corrupt and wrong. Democrats swept into power. And their days are numbered, too. They were swept into power on the premise that they would stop congressional pay raises, stop the war in whatever way they could, and challenge an unpopular president. Instead, not so much of that really happened.. oh yea , and those pork-laden bills. Yea. They are back again. But with all of these problems and all of his anger towards government, all is well. You often hear people say the founders are rolling in their graves. Not sure why, really. They may be unhappy on a few things.. One, for instance, the over-indulgent America continuing go get involved with other countries. I don't think the founders would have liked that. But it's also interesting to question what exactly they would have done to handle things like the Oklahoma City bombing or 9/11.. How would Benjamin Franklin think after terrorists came to the country to blow up free-loving people? Would George Washington bring the draft back? Would Abraham Lincoln suspend civil liberties all over again? I do not believe that the country that existed 231 years ago was better than now. We continuously evolve into a better and freer people. We have our issues, but we as a country seam to deal with them quite fine. At least so far in our 231 years.. God only knows what year 232 will bring. But for now, even with war debates, even with constant presidential politics, and even with endless debates about social and moral issues, the founding fathers are sleeping well: We are still free to speak, write, and vote. We are still able to bring up families... and we are still able--though sometimes a desperate struggle--to find that road that keeps us on our pursuit of happiness. 231 years later. We're freer than George and Thomas. We're constantly better. And the fireworks above us are not meant to damage the citizens of the nation. It's our duty to history and our future generations to keep it exactly that way. There is one thing the founders may be disappointed with though if they shot themselves out of their graves again: Can't light up in too many public places anymore. Smoke em if you got em. God bless America.

ABC NEWS: Federal government fears terror "spectacular" for summer

ABC NEWS is reporting on a 'secret document' that warns of 'spectacular' terror attacks this summer.. More from the story:
""This is reminiscent of the warnings and intelligence we were getting in the summer of 2001," the official told ABCNews.com. U.S. officials have kept the information secret, and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said today on ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that the United States did not have "have any specific credible evidence that there's an attack focused on the United States at this point.""

Did Vince McMahon ruin wrestling?

The strange murder/suicide of Chris Benoit and family has raised more questions than answers about the state of professional wrestling. It's also caused a very interesting mystery on Wikipedia.. who exactly posted the news of Benoit's wife being dead hours before it was actually released to the media that it occured.. why was the poster only miles from WWE headquarters?

The WWE had a package ready for Monday night.. the day after the weekend of the bloody massacre.. The next day the world came to learn of how the ill-fated fate actually took place: It was the wrestler that killed his own wife and child and then hung himself..

A number of voices have come out declaring that Vince McMahon ruined wrestling ..

He certainly changed it. He brought "suck it" into the venacular of American society in the 90s.. his rude and ignorant creation of Stone Cold Steve Austin led a generation of seniors in high school to give the finger to society and proclaim they just "whooped" someone's ass..

But wrestling has always gone with the times. Is it the times that create a more violent wrestling character? Is it a reflection of society? Or does it further agitate the senses into becoming a less than moral person?

You may recall, if you are a wrestling fan--I am former... pre-20 year fan--that June's story on wrestling was that Vince McMahon was possibly killed in a car bomb.. .. perhaps with the latest news from London--plus the Benoit death--to continue this latest twisted twist in wrestling was be out of taste to say the least..

While McMahon will be able to easily change the storyline of the fictious world of professional sports entertainment, it's going to be impossible to alter the landscape of the wrestling world after Chris Benoit's actions. Wrestling may be filled with stories of tragic endings for tragic figures--maybe they get too big to handle the fame; maybe they think their world is real.. But even with the number of unfortunate accidents and deaths of wrestling stars, the story of Benoit is quite different.

McMahon's tribute to Benoit hours after the bodies were discovered was an embarassment. When news broke that Benoit was the killer, McMahon tried to apologize for the tribute show. Now Steve Austin's ex-wife has come out swinging.. She is making allegations that Austin was a steroid abusing wife beater. She also states that the WWE, then the WWF before the World Wildlife Fund had their say, told her to keep silent about the incidents.

There is also intrigue over what role steroids played in Benoit's actions.. While no excuse for anything he did, some wonder if it was due to 'roid rage'.. And did McMahon, and the WWE, allow steroids to be openly used to make stars bigger and bigger.. and bigger?

Questions with little answers today.

What is clear, though, is the questions will persist. Just today, as a matter of fact, news broke that DEA agents raided Benoit's doctor's house.

UPI is reporting that the Wikipedia poster is being questioned by authorities in relation to the Benoit case. The "concidence" of posting news about a death no one knew about hours before it actually was known is troubling to say the least.. Mystery also persists as to whether or not Benoit's 7-year-old son had Fragile X Syndrome, an inherited form of mental retardation often accompanied by autism...

What is known though: Bibles were placed next to both Benoit's wife and son after the murders. Benoit hung himself.

McMahon hasn't handled this the best yet. And there are going to be more questions coming..

Pennsylvania: Budgetless

Possible furloughs of state workers coming.. casinos may have to shut down.. universities in the state system may go on strike.. all because of the Pennsylvania Legislature and Governor Rendell not being able to come to agreeing terms on a state budget..

The deadline of midnight July 1 arrived without any agreement..

Furloughs of state workers would not take place until July 9, according to the Governor's office.

Democrats and Republicans are blaming each other for the failure to enact a budget by this point..

Perhaps no big deal .. (until the casinos shut down)
