It's been a long week of Don Imus-related rakings.. Lots of words in press and on TV has gone to discuss his commentary on hos and race in America.. his joke bombed.. and his career tanked. All within one week .. Playing out on papers and magazines and news programming for the entire week's worth of news cycles..

Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice calls Imus' comments "disgusting".. A high ranking government official speaks out. And she's happy he was fired.

A lot of people are.

So is the firing of Don Imus just a short little snippet of news that was? Just a man being fired for offensive comments (*though 30 years worth of those same types of comments follow him*).. Or is this something more? Freedom of speech issues at play? Freedom of the press? Rap music? The entire rhelm of race relations in America?

Maybe.

But while we disucssed Mr. Imus' words, the Green Zone in Iraq was infiltrated and bombed.. The Pentagon announced the increase in months that troops will be deployed in Iraq, and there was more and more talk about a draft coming due to the stretching of the United States military.

Yea. Those little stories were below the fold and the secondary stories of the week..

The media has scores of "experts" on TV in America and in Britain talking about the relationship.. how he will deal with it.. the breakup making everyone upset.. the end of a possibility of a future queen.. the future military career of William.. Kate moving on..

I suppose the media won't leave the issue along--or them. But how I wish they would.........

This is going to be a huge storm--whether it's rain or snow or ice.. or a mix of all three. There's more than a few forecasters expecting an historical storm for the ages--the kinds weather dweebs like me talk about all summer much to the chagrine of people that want to think only about the hot summer sun above and not about the upcoming fall and winter poised to bring MORE storms that weather dweebs like me get excited about..

But nonetheless.. the overwhelming news of this weather has me truly thinking: How can snow accumulate in the Spring? The ground is warmer.. the temperature today, as a matter of fact, is about 50 degrees.. And the rain coming tonight to change to snow tomorrow morning..
