The snow's over. Sort of. Still lightly falling outside the humble Schmuckraker basement.. Temperatures should be near 60 by the end of next week so Spring will spring, regardless of the fact we have 13 inches of snow on the ground as I type..

Maybe cabin fever is getting to everyone: Trump unloads on the Bush Administration..

Donald Trump today on CNN said that Bush is the worst president in history..

"I don't know if they're bad people. I don't know what's going on. I just know they got us into a mess, the likes of which this country has probably never seen. It's one of the great catastrophes of all time."

On Iraq: "They're in a civil war over there. There's nothing that we're going to be able to do with a civil war."

Winter weather mode.. one more time.
The great Valentine's Day snowstorm only one month behind us.. getting ready for the St Patrick's Day snowstorm of 2007.

I know, it's hard to believe when you read that the North Pole could be ice free by 2100..

But a pretty sizable late-March storm is brewing for the Northeast.. Winter storm warnings have been issued by the National Weather Service for various parts of the Northeast due to the impending storm..

The winter that never seemed to begin now seems to never end.

An interesting caveat that the NWS has put in its winter storm warnings: "IF THE STORM INTENSIFIES MORE THAN EXPECTED...SNOWFALL AMOUNTS COULD BE MUCH HIGHER"

IF. The big if.

Margusity says 1 to 3 inches per hour.. developing..

Every now and then it's easy to forget what is important. .The book THE SECRET is important right now--at least in media circles and among Americans dying for a chance to get rich and happy. But rich and happy doesn't always go into the same sentence... sometimes it's just rich OR happy.. It's tough to make them both equate.

The SECRET professes that if you imagine wealth and a big new car you can achieve it. Whether it's bunk junk or not, it's a fast selling book..

But to me, a better and bigger secret is what we don't know.

The amazing unspoken and unknown life of ordinary people. Everyone has their own story.. everyone has their own history. Everyone has a life and deserves respect.

Sometimes it's easy for news of Britney Spears getting a haircut to overtake what really matters.

But in the final moments of life--a time when even the most courageous and stoic be filled with fear--what matters? Not fame and fortune.. not money.. No, instead, it matters if your kids love you. It matters if your wife or husband go to sleep in your arms at night and wake up happier than the day before. The job doesn't matter enough to get carpel tunnel or Blackberry thumbs..

Spend some more time when someone who's lonely. Be most generous with your moments.. They're fleeting.

Time goes by so fast. So very, very fast.

Live it up. You're only here once. Maybe.

And don't be afraid to cry. Even if you're not "supposed to."

And finally.. something I need to think about. Will this site continue as it is? Schmuckraker.com.. The jig is almost up. As a matter of fact, just got my email from my server that the domain is set to expire and that if not renewed it will die the death that all sites eventually will (then they become either gateway sites for gambling or porn sites that get install pay-per-click technology on your computer).. yet the choice is with me. I can live on blogging on blogger.com Free.. not paying my yearly rate for my domain name that makes me no money.. Or just throw in the FTP'ing towell. I will update you all accordingly on the matter at hand at some point in the near future.. Soon, too. The domain's days are ticking away.

Yellow ribbon blues..
As the support of the war vanishes, so does the marketing stabability of yellow ribbons. They were all over for the first few years after the Iraq war began, but now stockpiles of the ribbons are setting in storage facilities not being purchased in big numbers by consumers anymore..

I hope and pray this is not a symbol of fading support for the troops.. for I don't care what you think of the war, it's the troops that are performing their duties just as they are called to do during wartime..

Walter Reed scandal related rakings..
This story continues to shock and mystify Americans: How can wounded soldiers come back to the land of the free and be faced with staying in a hospital that had roahces and rats running around, allegations of deficiencies in outpatient care, allegations that soldiers with brain injuries were not able to get doctors's appointments, and troops sleeping in mold-infested rooms!?

They fought a war there.. just to come HERE and face this?

TIME magazine: Firing the wrong general..

Blogger: Wounded troops are Bush's second Katrina..

Blogger: Are privitizations the real culprit

The root of it all: The powerful emotions at Walter Reed..
