THE GRAND OLD SCHMUCKS OF THE WEEK
Republicans may look back 11 years and remember a day when the "Contract with America" shook up Congress and the Senate and cry...they'll see how their base is crumbling due to various ethical questions, investigations, hurricanes, wars, and stock sales..
Absolute power has seemed to do with it does best yet again..and the SCHMUCK RAKER is there, to rake what it can... This week's Schmuck of the Week is an entire political party, but not the people...instead it's the top leaders, the men who would be president, and the advisors who may soon be toppled...

Something tells me this was intentional?? AFI runs a 'left behind' Bush photo..

Bourbon Street up and running again...

We thought we'd never hear it...endless amounts of bad movies later, the Hollywood studio executives that brought us just so many horrible awful movies come clean about why exactly the box office slump is occuring: It's their movies!
The LA TIMES story documenting their admission also mentions the movies STEALTH and BEWITCHED. I saw neither one of them...though I had no inclination to even buy a ticket for them. STEALTH was advertised so heavy you'd think the Bush administration had a stake in it...But even though it was constant--for months--seeing that evil plane and that endless preview, no one went to the damn movie! And believe me, it's not because they downloaded it at home, it's because they wanted to stay away from crap...
Period.

Deadly day--again--in Bali
It was two years ago when another bombing occured--in October..

The PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER scoops the New York TIMES on Judith Miller/Scooter Liddy story...

UK GUARDIAN argues that former Bush advisor Karen Hughes in helping Bin Laden still through her talk of Americans and God...
Hughes, on her American terrorism-is-bad tour around the Middle East, after being asked about why Bush mentions God so much in speeches, said that other presidents did and that our Constitution did..former Clinton advisor Sidney Blumenthal, and author of the GUARDIAN story, calls THIS helping bin Laden?? Get a grip, Sid...

The death of five good men in Iraq..
OPERATION IRON FIST launched in Iraq..
A new hunt for insurgents...

They can't take anymore! More hurricane worries in the Gulf of Mexico..

Bush and Company the schmucks of the week...But
More: Bush and Cheney directly involved in leak scandal?
Able Danger cover-up heats up..
Deadly biohazard sensors go off during anti-war protests in D.C....
"Not likely a threat"
But conspiracy thoughts abound..

I want to ride my bicyle...And apparently a lot more people than me do, too...Not because they want to be Lance Armstrong, but instead they want to save on gas prices...
Just a note to all of you out there that don't ride bikes but want to? Stay off main highways with no lights on your bike, just asking to be hit...Learn to ride the bike the right way before doing it, Alright? Alright.

Celebrate, we said!!
There was just something about this AP story that made me sick: The story talks about a pro-Communism party in Beijing...56 years of Commi Pinko rule in China...the AP says crowds "enthusiastically waved Chinese flags" at the celebration...a grand old time. The AP reports, "human rights groups said authorities have been expelling people with grievances from the capital to prevent disruptions, a common move during politically sensitive periods."
Of course. Commonplace indeed.
The news account of the event goes on to say that the country is enjoying the benefits of two decades of rapid economic growth but still facing deep-seated 'social problems'...
"Social problems?" Is that what the AP calls it? I'd call it a totalitarian dictatorship that is eating up fossil fuels, has no regard for human rights, the environment, and is stomping down on any attempt for a free press of bloggers online. I would hardly call it a "social problem." This AP story explained only the propaganda and hardly tried to discount it. They complain about the Bush Administration's attempt to advertise their medicare programs--and rightfully so--but for some reason seem uneager to counter the corruption and sadness that so many Chinese have under the harsh government rule..
News wire photos of the 'fun'

GAO: Bush Administration's buying of favorable stories and making payments to Armstrong Williams was illegal..

Close up the beach house? Put away the sunglasses? Brady group tells would-be British tourists the dangers of the Sunshine state's new "Shoot first" law..
Pro-gun law writer counters..

Indonesia protests over high gas prices..

CRONENBERG'S 'VIOLENCE' getting rave reviews..

Meet the 20 million year old spider...
