Moments in time...images captured forever...history tonight...
The events that occured in London, the 7/7 attacks as they are now called, have rattled the nerves of the world but not damaged the steel that holds it together...terrorism is a constant. It was always thus and most likely always thus will be. Fighting it is not futile, though...just as rats are exterminated from a home, terrorists can run...but their existence will continue until a day when generations force them to die out...when human life accepts dignity and beauty over dishonor and mayhem...
The worlds stands united with Britain today, which suffered its worst attack since World War II. America knows a bit about this, too...the 9/11 attacks were the worst attacks on America since the Civil War...
Today we read the tales of horror...tomorrow we'll see the tales of heroism. We'll hear of the rescue workers, and the beauty of human life... And in the end, we need to read about both. Because only then can the human race see what its up against: A pillar of destruction set on destroying the ideals of construction...a pillar built on a false foundation, though, is one that will not substain the test of time.....

The sounds and sights that played out on the streets of London today were strangly similar to the events and horrors on 9/11 in America...Like that time, the world came together, united in a stand against terror, and all of its evils...
There is no doubt that today's event will not undermine that feeling of unity, but instead increase it...
Tony Blair stood before the press shortly after today's events and spoke with clarity...appearing shellshocked at first, he became rigid, and stood up to terrorists, flanked by the world leaders attending the G8 conference...Blair said, "Those responsible have no respect for human life. We are united in our resolve to confront and defeat this terrorism that is not an attack on one nation, but on all nations and on civilised people everywhere"

Let's here it for the bloggers! The new media was around in 2001, but the advent of citizen journalists had yet to take off to the point it's at now...and while I road to work this morning myself stuck listening to local radio talk about ridiculous news while London had the 7/7 attacks or listening to NPR talk about the rising price of concerts, I missed the net until I got to work and logged on...I missed it because of how truly valuable of a way of news gathering and reporting it has become....and now it's not just the big players, AP, CNN, etc...it's blogs...it's citizens--quite like me--that have a hunger for news and a yearning to report something to someone somewhere....
